"Innovation and Technology Farm" experiential learning to practice interdisciplinary knowledge

The school advocates using real scenarios to carry out experiential learning, and builds an "Innovation and Technology Farm" as an interdisciplinary base to create hands-on opportunities for students to step out of the classroom and master interdisciplinary knowledge through practice. The "Innovation and Technology Farm" is jointly participated by biology, computer, design technology, home economics and other disciplines. In addition to plant-related planting experiences, programming learning is also introduced, such as programming automatic nutrient solution replenishment, automatic fish food feeding machines and other devices. In the process of taking care of the plants, students also experienced the "hard work of every particle" and felt the joy of harvest. The school also plans to sell agricultural products in the snack bar on campus, allowing students to experience the complete production and operation process.

In addition, the school uses off-campus competitions to promote the integration of knowledge in different areas. For example, students are arranged to participate in the "Aerospace Breeding Project" competition. By planting seeds in space and on Earth and comparing growth differences (such as growth speed), students are exposed to aerospace knowledge and can apply the knowledge and skills learned in the "Innovation and Technology Farm". Students also won awards in the competition.

Use multiple strategies to make full use of English and find the right method to achieve breakthroughs

Principal Lam Chi Bun I believe that as long as students find the right method, they can change and grow. The school promotes English teaching with diversified strategies and learning experiences, and helps students grow and change in a flexible way. Principal Lam Chi Bun Focuses on the interaction between students and foreigners, hoping that they can make full use of English as a communication medium. In addition to regular conversation teaching by foreign teachers, the school also sets up an "English Cafe" for students to learn English through activities. It also invites the Watoto Poetry Organization to come to the school for exchanges, build an English context, and encourage students to listen more and speak more.

The school is also actively connecting with international platforms, leading students to participate in the "Bett Show", a large-scale technology exhibition in the UK, to showcase their STEAM works, including "Smart Floodgate", "Human Body Sensing Lifting Podium", etc., and explain to local guests in English. Before participating in the "Bett Show", foreign teachers will train students in English answering, learn professional vocabulary, etc., to enhance their confidence in using English. Participant Chen said frankly that the foreign teacher's full participation in the project helped him improve all aspects of his English.

The students explained the creative concept and future application vision of the work to the visitors, and received full recognition and appreciation. At the same time, I also visited local schools to communicate with students and benefited a lot. Principal Lam Chi Bun joked: "Students who once could not imagine giving lectures in English have achieved breakthroughs with the opportunities and guidance provided by the school. They have not only broadened their horizons, but also witnessed their own growth, embodying the concept of finding the right way to shine."

Jump out of the classroom and explore the world to broaden students’ global horizons

The school launched an Australian exchange group to break through the traditional visiting model, improve students' English skills, broaden their knowledge, and help them find the right development direction. The school encourages students to stay with local families for two weeks and participate in local school classes. In real life and learning scenarios, students can not only communicate in a real English environment, strengthen language communication skills, and cultivate interest in learning; they can also gain a deeper understanding of local culture, customs, and learning models, break cognitive limitations, and establish an international perspective.

Some students also choose to study abroad after participating in exchange groups. Zhao, who had participated in the group, said that his experience in the Australian group completely changed his views on studying abroad. He understood the local learning atmosphere and rhythm, so he chose to study in Australia and was finally admitted to a local university. In the future, the school will launch the New Zealand Tour to continue this concept and mission, stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning English, explore different aspects of the world in depth, and find their own path.

Diversified learning experience, school team shows potential

Over the years, the school has actively created a diversified activity platform to provide students with opportunities to develop their potential. It implements the concept of "anyone can shine, as long as they find the right place" and provides a wealth of extracurricular activities, such as track and field, skipping, basketball, shuttlecock, football, etc., which not only supports students with basic skills to continue to develop their talents, but also encourages them to explore new interests and explore their potential.

Shan is an example of someone who started from scratch and achieved outstanding results. He had never touched shuttlecock before entering school. With the training and coaching guidance provided by the school, he practiced hard and has become a representative of the Hong Kong shuttlecock team. He said that shuttlecock allowed me to set goals and constantly improve myself. Over the years, I participated in many competitions, supported each other with my teammates, and became more cheerful.

For students with basic knowledge, the school also provides high-quality facilities. After years of training, students have also achieved good results. Not only has it won the championship and runner-up in the Tai Po and North District Division I of the School Sports Federation in the past three years, and entered the Hong Kong Elite Tournament, many students in the school team have also been selected into the Hong Kong Football Team to show themselves on a higher level.

The most eye-catching thing is that last year, a student of the school who excelled in rope skipping was pre-admitted to Baptist University through the principal's recommendation program, achieving dual-track development in academics and specialties. "Backpacking Tour" Cultivate personal soft power

Learning cannot be limited to the classroom, but needs to be inspired by experience and participation. To this end, the school arranged a "backpacking tour group". Different from school trips and out-of-town exchange groups, backpacking groups expect students to learn to be independent and grow through their mistakes. Therefore, students need to make their own itineraries, choose public transportation, and control their daily expenses and time spent on each trip. They also need to learn communication and collaboration, so they will take turns serving as team leader, finance, navigation, filming and team member safety positions.

The "Backpacking Tour" arranges students as a team of 5 to 6 people to go to Taipei, Kaohsiung, South Korea and other places to perform tasks, such as taking photos, finding items, etc. They are required to independently plan their itinerary, manage finances, and even perform street performances to raise funds. Principal Lam Chi Bun shared: "There are many limitations in the process. They proactively think about breakthroughs when faced with task constraints. They also hone their courage and perseverance in the process. They need to design plans, overcome fear, and show confidence. These are principles that cannot be taught in textbooks."

Enter the workplace and plan your career, understand yourself and clarify your direction

In the field of career planning, the school also puts a lot of effort into paving the way for students' future studies and employment through rich and diverse career planning activities.

On the one hand, the school leads students to enter the real workplace, gain an in-depth understanding of the daily work in different fields such as cooking and airport services, and gain personal exposure to the operating models of various industries to clarify the characteristics and requirements of different occupations.
