Launch an English learning circle to achieve "teaching and mutual learning"

English education has always been the school's focus and advantage area, and it has won relevant awards from the Chief Executive many times. This honor not only affirms the school's English teaching achievements, but also strengthens the school's determination to deepen its English education. In order to further improve the quality of English teaching and radiate into the community, the school specifically applied for funding from the Board of Directors of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to launch an English learning circle project in the district to help primary schools improve their English standards. On the one hand, primary school students in the district can receive professional English training to lay a foundation for language; on the other hand, school students have the opportunity to enter primary school classrooms and participate in teaching assistance as "little teachers", consolidating their English knowledge and cultivating their sense of responsibility and communication skills in the process of serving others, achieving a win-win situation of "teaching and mutual learning".

Interdisciplinary language teaching creates a good language environment

The interdisciplinary language teaching model is also a major feature of the school's English education, which penetrates English into the teaching of different subjects. LAC exchange groups are organized every year to take students to various parts of the world to carry out research activities. They have been to Singapore before and to Australia in recent years. When selecting participating students, the school adheres to the principle of fairness and is not limited to those with excellent academic performance. Instead, it takes into account students with different performance levels and different family backgrounds. Some students from poor family backgrounds can also receive financial aid.

In addition, the school regularly holds various LAC activities such as Treasure Hunt and Funday Booth, allowing students to improve their English application skills in a relaxed and interesting atmosphere. Principal Li Chi Man Not only serves as the chairman of the Hong Kong Mathematics and Physics Education Society, but also has served on the STEAM Education Standing Committee for many years. He has a deep understanding and forward-looking planning for STEAM education. Therefore, the school's STEAM education is by no means a "little taste" of interest activities, but emphasizes "quality first". All activities are based on a reasonable curriculum foundation and clear training goals to cultivate innovative technology talents for Hong Kong and the country.

In order to form a complete training system, the school has constructed a three-level curriculum framework from Form One to Form Three: In the Form One stage, students are guided to extensively dabble in basic content such as Robotics and Coding; in the Form Two stage, students learn in depth about advanced technologies such as 3D printing to improve their practical capabilities; in the Form Three stage, large-scale interdisciplinary special studies are conducted and students learn to use intelligent methods to make cookies. In April every year, the school also holds a cookie fair on Parents' Day to display the results to parents and the community. Deepen the development of science education and promote linkage between primary schools and middle schools

With the development of education trends, the school has further incorporated "science education" into key development areas based on STEAM education. The school gives full play to its advantages in science education and plans to launch a science learning circle project, organizing teachers with a science professional background in the school to provide science teaching guidance to primary school teachers in the district, helping them understand the difference between "scientific inquiry" and ordinary "inquiry-based learning", and integrating scientific thinking into primary school science classrooms. At the same time, the school will also organize students to participate in auxiliary work in primary school science activities, so that students can consolidate scientific knowledge and cultivate scientific communication awareness. Principal Li Chi Man hopes to build a "primary school-middle school" linked science education ecosystem, cultivate students' scientific curiosity from the primary school level, strengthen scientific inquiry skills at the junior high school level, lay the foundation of scientific knowledge at the high school level, and promote the improvement of the quality of science education in the entire community.

Innovative application of artificial intelligence to improve independent learning efficiency

In the wave of integration of technology and education, schools are also actively exploring the application of AI in teaching, focusing mainly on independent learning and building an online learning platform. After students complete their homework, AI can instantly correct them. The system will give feedback and rewards based on students' answers to improve the efficiency of independent learning. At the same time, the school clearly opposes the use of AI to "replace teachers' work" or "help students opportunistically", such as using AI to write homework and cope with exams.

The school divides AI education into three levels: for all students, it teaches basic application methods of AI and cultivates awareness and acceptance of AI; for teachers, it carries out AI-related professional training and updates teaching concepts and methods; for elite students with potential, it guides them to learn in-depth advanced content such as AI programming and AI innovative applications. At present, the school has cooperated with some universities to jointly research the innovative application of AI in education. In the future, it plans to further promote students to "be proficient in using AI but not rely on AI", making AI a tool to improve learning ability and innovative thinking, rather than a "shortcut".

Get out of the classroom, explore the world, serve the society and broaden your horizons

The school has always adhered to the concept of "based on Tuen Mun, not limited to Tuen Mun". Principal Li Chi Man believes that if students only focus on the surrounding environment and lack exploration of the outside world, their field of vision will gradually become narrow. As a school under the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, it has unique resource advantages and can provide abundant exchange resources and opportunities. Over the years, the school has adhered to the concept of "going out of the classroom" and actively organized students to carry out diversified off-campus activities: in Hong Kong, there are various community research and practical activities; globally, it has carried out exchange group projects with schools around the world, allowing students to go out of Hong Kong, experience the cultures of different countries and regions, and broaden their international horizons.

This year, the school also designed a new community exploration project for Form 1 students. During the project, students will go into the community and communicate face-to-face with district councilors, art workers, Legislative Council members, and staff of government agencies such as the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. They will gain an in-depth understanding of the operating mechanism of the community and the responsibilities of different groups, and understand the diverse aspects of the community. Since a few years ago, the school has required all Form One students to participate in uniformed group activities, such as Scouts, Youth Corps, Maritime Youth League, etc. This move stems from the school's concern about the decline in the self-care ability of middle school students - some students have irregularities in packing school bags, incomplete carrying of items, etc., and lack basic awareness of discipline and self-management abilities.

Uniform group activities specially set up some challenging tasks to allow students to experience "difficulties" within a controllable range, improve their ability to resist setbacks in the process of overcoming difficulties, and promote healthy physical and mental development.
