Unique childlike courses promote students’ all-round development

Principal Wu and the teaching team designed a unique school-based "Children's Innocence Course". Students will focus on subject study in the morning session, while in the afternoon they will conduct "Innocence Courses" in the form of activities. It is composed of five major areas: "Children's Creative Art", "Innovative Learning", "Mingde Academy", "Children's World" and "Children's Village Fun", which takes care of the whole-person development of students in terms of academics, sports and arts, and moral education.

In "Children's Creative Art", the teaching team designs diversified creative activities to inspire students' aesthetic and creative development, and gradually cultivate their aesthetic and appreciation abilities. Students can also cultivate their affection and self-cultivation while feeling and experiencing different cultures and arts; "Innovative Learning" establishes learning content focusing on "subjects", and by extending the teaching of "subjects", it strengthens students' interest in learning and stimulates their creative thinking ability; "Mingde Academy" aims to cultivate students' good moral character , through the moral and civic education classes and the Childlike Heart Service Program, we strengthen students' polite and compliant behavior and build a grateful and cherishing heart; in order to establish a good teacher-student relationship and increase students' sense of belonging to the school, the "Childlike World" will combine life education, class management, self-care classes and bi-monthly birthday parties to cultivate students' all-round growth; "Children's Village Fun" organizes various types of interest classes and activities, allowing students to experience the joy of learning from the activities, to inspire their talents and potentials, and to demonstrate their talents.

Promote children’s village fun and inspire potential in many areas

"Having Fun in a Children's Village" is the core project of the "Children's Innocence Curriculum", which includes different types of multiple intelligence activities, including elements such as Linguistic, Logical, Visual, Kinesthetic, Rhythmic, Social, Introspective and Naturalist.

The teachers in charge of "Tongcun Fun" will design a semester or school year course for students to choose based on the projects they are good at. Through "Children's Village Fun", students can choose their favorite activities from more than 30 extracurricular activities each semester. Such as ROBOT IN STEM, sports adventure, campus farmer, bird watching, hand clock, English singing tour, etc., to enrich students' learning experience.

Organizing study tours and exchange activities to broaden students’ cultural horizons

The school participates in the sister school exchange program and actively organizes students to conduct overseas exchanges and study tours, allowing students to experience the culture and customs of various places, cultivate diverse abilities, and promote the spirit of caring and helping others. The school has established a sister school relationship with Shenzhen Liannan Primary School and jointly launched the "Students from Shenzhen and Hong Kong attend the same class" activity to further strengthen educational exchanges and realize the sharing of educational resources and cultural co-construction of the school.

The teaching team led the students to visit the Liannan Primary School campus first, and enjoyed the singing drama "The Book of Songs Xiaoya Plucking Wei" presented by the Fenghe Singing Troupe of Liannan Primary School. They also walked into the Shehuo Horse Shao Miniature Museum to experience the different forms of intangible cultural heritage - Horse Mask Masks. The students were divided into four groups and entered each class of Liannan Primary School, where they studied Chinese, mathematics, music, and art with their classmates. At the same time, students from both schools performed on the same stage, playing "Ode to Joy" with hand bells, demonstrating their good artistic accomplishment and perfectly reflecting the heart-to-heart friendship between students from Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Build an ecological campus and promote green life

The school continues to optimize the campus environment. With the theme of wetland ecology, the school has built a new ecological "step house" and set up an exhibition space to display students' ecological works and specimens. In order to promote concepts such as "environmental protection 4R" and "sustainable development", the school renovated discarded equipment, such as student tables, balls and water bottles, into flower pots and flower stands, and added ecological graffiti on the flower stands. Childlike introduction boards were also set up next to different plants, and QR codes were attached to allow students to browse detailed information about the plants. In addition, the school also makes full use of campus space, setting up childlike ecological walls on the stairs and basketball court grids, and designing "Guess the STEM Ecological Riddles" to enrich students' understanding of the ecological environment.

Cultivate “Ho Tung Little Farmers” and practice positive values

The school is committed to building an ecological campus and training senior students to become "Ho Tung Little Farmers" who are responsible for taking care of the school vegetable garden. Small farmers participate in planting workshops every year to learn various farming knowledge. The activities also incorporate interdisciplinary learning elements and are carried out in conjunction with topics such as "Plant Reproduction", "Photosynthesis", "Common Vegetables", "Different Parts of Plants" and other general knowledge subjects. Through farming, teachers will teach students the concept of sustainable development. Students will use the food waste produced by the school as fertilizer to control pests in a way that balances the ecological environment. By experiencing the process of farming, students can not only learn and practice knowledge from different disciplines, but also learn to care for nature and develop a good attitude of cooperating with others and cherishing food.
