Organize overseas exchange groups and stay with local families

The school is committed to creating a strong language environment to help students learn English immersively. By providing corresponding scenarios, the school encourages students to apply what they have learned and realize the importance of English, thereby enhancing their learning motivation and independent learning spirit. Principal Kam Wai Ming emphasized: "Whether it is in Hong Kong or elsewhere, there are a lot of development opportunities. The school organizes exchange groups to let students understand that as long as they master the language skills, they can gradually seize these opportunities." The school hopes to allow students to "climb high and look far ahead", broaden their horizons, increase their knowledge, and explore their different potentials.

The school organizes exchange groups to take students to countries where English is the main language, including sister schools in the United Kingdom, Australia and other places. The purpose is to allow students to apply English in a natural context and deeply understand the necessity of learning and using English, thereby promoting the effectiveness of English learning. In addition, the school will arrange for students to stay with host families and integrate into the lives of local residents. Through the immersive learning experience, you can fully access and use English, understand the local culture, and build friendships with the locals. Thereafter, students will continue to communicate with each other through letters to further strengthen their language skills. More importantly, this kind of overseas experience can broaden students' horizons, allow them to understand the latest developments in the world, and establish an international perspective.

Connect students’ interests and develop personal strengths

Students have their own interests and strengths, so the school actively creates opportunities to help them discover and expand their personal skills and interests, such as English musicals, morning meeting sharing, short film production, recitation competitions, cultural exchanges with international school students, etc., so that students can increase their interest in learning English through different activities. In recent years, the school has also organized a variety of overseas STEM activities, arranging students to participate in competitions abroad, allowing them to use English flexibly and improve their language skills through speeches and sharing. In order to cooperate with the "Workplace" topic for senior students, the English subject team arranged for students to interview former students who are now "slash students" in English to enrich their English learning experience.

In addition, the school specially hired two foreign English teachers to teach conversation courses in small classes. Foreign teachers will serve as "reading companions" during the early reading period for Form 3 and Form 4 to create an international learning atmosphere and give students a quiet reading time. The English subject group also launched the "Reading Café" project, which arranges for foreign teachers and students to enjoy afternoon tea together, read and share English books. "English Speaking Day" is held regularly, and all teachers and students in the school communicate in English. "Lunch Break English Song Request" plays songs at designated times, allowing students to learn English through music and master pure English pronunciation.

Principal Kam Wai Ming advocates for students to promote English learning in a high-quality campus environment. The school makes good use of resources and cooperates with external organizations to give students more practical opportunities. For example, it has previously cooperated with "Young Life" to arrange for students to participate in activities and games hosted by native English speakers, allowing them to train their listening, conversation and reading skills through communication, games and other aspects. The school also led students to participate in the "Living Water Foundation" event, using the Zoom platform to interview charity staff in Nepal to understand the local water shortage situation, further explore the development status of different countries, and build an international perspective. In addition, the school cooperates with "See Change Education" to launch a two-week summer activity, where foreign teachers teach students public speaking skills to improve their English conversation skills and confidence in using English.

At the same time, the school participates in the summer program organized by "Summerbridge" every year. Students go to international schools to experience different forms of classes, and practice their English communication skills through communication with foreign teachers and international school classmates. In addition to activities, the school also has cooperation plans for classroom teaching. For example, during the summer vacation, junior high school students have the opportunity to participate in the English WeCan course of the "School Start" program. College students majoring in education, English or related subjects serve as tutors, using foreign teaching materials, and the activities are taught in groups to enrich students' vocabulary reserves through reading; for high school students, there is "Write!" The English subject group and other subject groups promote inter-disciplinary collaborative teaching to help students integrate the knowledge learned in different subjects with English elements, making the English learning experience more interesting. For example, science courses are taught in English, allowing students to master the English vocabulary needed in different subjects. The school also arranges for some topics in the Civics subject to be taught in English, and allows students to visit foreign teachers to understand the life and culture of different countries. Not only that, the Chinese and English subjects also jointly organized a reading carnival, allowing Form 1 students to interpret idiom stories in English. Recently, the music subject group also arranged for choir students to communicate with the Vienna Choir, allowing students to take this opportunity to put their English knowledge into practice.

Artificial intelligence cooperates with English learning to learn to control high-end technology

The integration of technology into teaching and learning has become a major trend in education. The school has always kept pace with the times, leading students to master innovative technologies and apply technology to learning. The school uses the "Reading Progress" program to detect students' English conversation errors through artificial intelligence, summarizes their weaknesses, and provides support based on their different needs. In addition, the school makes good use of the "POE" function to write "ChatBot" to help students expand their personal vocabulary library, master the key points of writing good sentences, and strengthen their writing skills. At the same time, "ChatBot" can also correct students' English grammatical structure and take care of different learning differences. More importantly, the artificial intelligence system operates 24 hours a day, so students can learn anytime and anywhere to improve their personal English skills.
