New Curriculum Framework Promotes Contextual Learning

The school understands that a pleasant English learning experience can stimulate children's interest in learning. Every year, it launches "real-life learning" on different topics to allow students to experience the fun of learning English in different situations, such as letting lower grade students learn to make recipes and holding fashion shows for second grade students. Every student has the opportunity to participate and experience, thereby becoming familiar with the English usage environment and learning daily and practical English knowledge. Students can also gain a sense of accomplishment from their own learning results and enhance their self-confidence. This not only makes the learning process more interesting, but also strengthens and consolidates key points of knowledge.

Diversified learning activities to create English context

The school enhances students' learning enthusiasm through different diversified activities, festival celebrations, etc. and creates a strong English learning atmosphere. For example, Halloween English activities are held during Halloween, allowing students to learn new English words from booth games, and through taking photos, singing, painting and other activities, students can immerse themselves in learning in a pleasant and relaxed environment; at Christmas, singing competitions, lottery draws, Q&A and other activities are also held to incorporate English elements, and students can consolidate their English knowledge in a fun way. At the same time, the school has an English room where students can enter during recess and lunch breaks to play English games and read English books with foreign English teachers.

In addition, the school trains students to become "English Ambassadors" who, under the training and guidance of foreign teachers, are responsible for various English activities in the school every year. The school also actively introduces external resources to provide students with a wealth of English activities. For example, the Hong Kong Little Shakespeare Troupe was invited to the school to perform an English drama performance "A Midsummer Night's Dream"; the Neighborhood Boys Troupe was invited to the school to perform a puppet show; the school also led students to participate in the "Bookworm" activity organized by SCOLAR to encourage students to read more. Practicing Adaptive Teaching and Constructing English Knowledge System

Appropriate teaching policies can help students establish a solid foundation in English. The school adopts tailored teaching strategies to help students construct and internalize the knowledge they have learned. In terms of regular courses, the school implements the PLP-R/W plan of the Education Bureau to help students easily understand new English words through reading story books. It also arranges pinyin courses for first and second grade students. This two-pronged approach lays a solid foundation in English from junior high school and prepares students for future silent reading, reading, and tests, so that students can become an "Independent Reader" through the course.

In addition to the teaching team developing school-based courses that meet the needs of students, the school has also introduced professional plans and participated in the Promotion of Primary School English Learning Subsidy Scheme (PEEGS) in 20/21, gaining additional resources to hire professionals to design courses for the school. Through this project, Primary 4 and Primary 5 students have added the use of books to learn in English courses, and designed units for each reading material, arranging students to conduct project study or conversational learning after reading. Last year, the school participated in the "Artificial Intelligence E-Learning Platform" of the University of Hong Kong and arranged for students to use the platform to conduct pre-tests and analyze their strengths and weaknesses in English through data. The system assigns designated tasks to students every week to ensure balanced development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It also tracks their learning progress, publishes targeted questions, and constructs a personalized learning process. The system is also equipped with notes, English questions, etc., and has a pronunciation function, allowing students to use the platform to study on their own after class. Teacher Chen pointed out: "The system can tailor-make practice questions for students, which is like one-on-one tutoring, so as to improve students' English skills."

At the same time, the school flexibly uses online platforms to improve students' learning abilities and promote student-led learning experiences. For example, the "English Treasure Box" is launched to encourage students to complete a daily exercise. It also cooperates with the platform's regular activities, such as crosswords, reading, writing, etc., and encourages students to invest in English learning through different competitions. The school will also teach upper primary school students to use "Google Classroom" learning materials for preview, and set up a question and answer area. Students can use the question and answer area to answer questions after class or during holidays, extending their learning time beyond the classroom.

On June 24, 2023, it co-organized the "One take Kendama Project" challenge with the Hong Kong Freestyle Kendall Association.
