Deepen biliteracy and trilingualism, apply what you have learned

The school focuses on cultivating students with good biliteracy and trilingual skills and becoming outstanding talents who are good at both Chinese and English. Principal Ye and the teaching team actively provide students with opportunities to apply what they have learned, enrich their knowledge, and strengthen their language skills. In terms of English, the school specially hires foreign English teachers to give students more opportunities to interact and communicate with teachers in English, so that students can adapt to using English in daily life and improve their self-confidence in spoken English. In addition, the school will also organize different activities, such as Hallelujah Day English Day, to create a strong English learning atmosphere. In terms of Chinese language, the school will hold Chinese Culture Day to allow students to learn more about traditional Chinese culture, such as face-changing performances, experience ancient costumes, games and traditional handicrafts, etc., to enrich cultural connotation.

Equip STEAM skills and expand your horizons through experience

Innovation and technology are an important engine for social development. In order to cultivate more innovation and technology talents, the school vigorously promotes STEAM education and cooperates with the University of Hong Kong to plan STEAM education courses to make the development direction of STEAM education clearer. Through different learning activities, students’ knowledge and abilities in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics are enhanced. For example, I joined the "Little Astronaut Program" earlier and took my children to the Wenchang Rocket Launch Center to let the students understand the principles of rocket launch. They were also arranged to participate in an exchange group in conjunction with the program to experience the shocking scene of a rocket launch first-hand, thereby gaining a profound understanding.

At the same time, the school has incorporated Micro:bit into STEAM teaching content to help children learn to control technology. Computer science and mathematics will also jointly organize STEAM courses to develop vertically and teach each grade step by step. After students in grades one to four have laid a foundation of relevant knowledge, grade five students participate in the "Maker Course" offered by the school, where they design and make their own work based on a specific theme to apply what they have learned. Grade six is ​​a stage of review. Through progressive curriculum planning, theory and practice, students are equipped with cross-field knowledge, problem-solving abilities and creative thinking.

For example, we cooperate with off-campus institutions such as Nan Fung Cotton Mill, participate in art activities organized by Standard Chartered, and visit different museums, etc., leading students to go beyond the campus and have more exploration, experience and attempts.

On the other hand, the school arranges various extracurricular activities for students to develop their potential. For example, school teams in dance fields such as Oriental dance, hip-hop, and rhythmic gymnastics will also encourage students to experience emerging sports, such as lacrosse. At the same time, the school makes good use of on-campus teacher resources and arranges teachers to train potential students according to their professional strengths and even participate in public competitions. Many students have made outstanding achievements in music, sports and arts, such as winning the championship in the Hong Kong lacrosse primary school senior category. This year, five students were selected into the Hong Kong Lacrosse Youth Team to represent Hong Kong in competitions with other teams in Asia and have achieved many successes.

Establishing a special comprehensive classroom for Primary 1 to connect primary school curriculum

Principal Ye understands that Primary One students have just entered primary school and will inevitably need time to adapt to the course content, learning mode and environment. Therefore, in addition to regular classes, the school also arranges special comprehensive classes during after-school hours to coordinate with children's diverse development, cultivate and explore their potential in physical arts, language and mathematics, enhance their interest in learning in different areas, and help them integrate into campus life more quickly.

The school takes "cultivating initiative and building confidence" as its development concerns and actively promotes positive education to help students establish good values and prepare for the future. Principal Ye believes that value education is an important element of whole-person education, cultivating students’ correct moral character through various learning areas to face future challenges! For example, teachers use the "KT Passport" program to record and reward students for their good deeds, thereby encouraging them to do more good deeds. In addition, the school also attaches great importance to cultivating students' international perspective. For example, through reading, teacher sharing, "Speeches under the Flag" and other themes, students can learn about the country's different achievements and international current affairs, which can not only cultivate national identity, but also broaden students' horizons.
