Collaboration cooperative learning, working together, helping each other grow

The school's English courses take cooperative learning as its core concept, and we firmly believe that teamwork can bring about the best learning results. By sharing ideas, asking questions and supporting each other, students not only improve their language skills but also practice communication skills. This learning method that simulates real life helps students use English more confidently in actual situations.

In the classroom, teachers often flexibly use diversified teaching methods such as group discussions, paired exercises, and student demonstrations to make every student an active participant in learning. Especially in classroom demonstrations, students can present their ideas in an atmosphere of support and mutual learning, thereby achieving better learning results.

During recess, senior students also serve as "Reading Buddies", engaging in English exchange activities, reading book plans or playing English games with lower students. This mutually beneficial approach not only expands students' English application opportunities, but also promotes cross-grade friendships and enhances the sense of community on campus. What students gain during the learning process is not only language skills, but also cooperation spirit and interpersonal communication skills.

During the lunch break, the English room is staffed by foreign English teachers (NETs). Students can freely read books, participate in interactive games, and communicate with NETs in a natural and relaxed environment.

Throughout the school year, the school plans various English activities, covering topics such as sports, international culture, and STEAM, allowing students to subtly improve their language skills while having fun. For lower-grade students, the school specially arranges NETs to serve as primary class teachers. Through daily communication and auxiliary learning, they create an immersive English environment for students, cultivate their love for language at an early stage, and gradually lay a solid foundation in English.

The school will also provide opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges. For example, in June of last school year, students from the International School in Cambodia were invited to visit. The two parties conducted campus introductions, electronic teaching classes, handball training and other activities in English. Students not only practiced their language skills during the interaction, but also deepened their understanding of foreign cultures. In December this year, teachers led students to participate in an English service group activity in Cambodia, allowing them to apply what they have learned in practice while cultivating a positive character of helping others.

In addition, the school’s English ambassadors go to Stanley for English visits every December. Through direct communication with foreigners, students not only enhance their confidence in using English, but also broaden their international horizons. In addition, the school has also participated in the adapted teaching program under the Jockey Club School-based Diversity Plan. Taking "Healthy Eating" as the theme for the second semester of the fourth grade of English, the school discussed adaptive teaching strategies and conducted professional exchanges with experts and professors from another school and university. During the process, students discussed in groups, used English sentence patterns combined with prerequisite knowledge of general knowledge, and discussed the healthiness of various snacks through group collaboration, and finally made a report. Students' positive performance not only integrates their life experiences, but also improves their critical thinking skills.
