Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo) is a multicultural school with students from about 28 ethnic groups, bringing together different cultural backgrounds and languages. Principal Tse Chun Yin understands the importance of building multicultural perspectives for students to meet future needs. She said: "Hong Kong society is a multicultural society. Students will need to face people of different races in the future. We hope to equip them with relevant abilities in the secondary school stage." Multicultural education broadens horizons and promotes students’ personal growth

The school is committed to building an inclusive multicultural learning environment so that students can be exposed to different cultures and have a positive impact on their personal growth and broadening of their horizons. The "Multicultural Festival" held every year is a special event on campus with rich content, including students' artistic performances, food culture displays and food sharing of different ethnic groups, as well as subject-related multicultural stalls. The event also invited external organizations and mainland sister schools to participate, such as Xu Hai Middle School’s folk dance performance to promote cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and mainland students.

At the same time, the school encourages students to share their cultural background and introduce cultural elements such as Ramadan and Holi. Assistant Principal Li Bingqian said that multicultural education helps students understand the values, beliefs and customs of different ethnic groups, enhance their cultural awareness, and learn to respect, accept and appreciate the cultures of different ethnic groups and regions, thereby breaking down barriers and prejudices. Language is an important bridge of communication. In a multicultural environment, students naturally have the opportunity to be exposed to languages from different places. Taking advantage of this, the school arranges some classes and activities, such as English speaking classes, so that students from the Chinese Department and the English Department can participate together to create a natural context. Therefore, the school invests resources to optimize teaching facilities, such as adding professional Western-style kitchens, to meet teaching needs. In addition, after students complete this course, they can apply to local institutions through the Non-JUPAS method, or apply to overseas higher education institutions with their internationally recognized qualifications, thereby obtaining more than one institutional course choice, expanding their opportunities for further studies, and providing flexible and challenging subject choices. Supporting dream-chasing and achieving outstanding students

In order to recognize and support outstanding students, the school has established a scholarship system to encourage their efforts. For HKDSE candidates, the school has launched a tiered scholarship: students who obtain Level 2 in five subjects and qualify for local self-financing sub-degree programs will receive a bonus of NT$2,000; students who are admitted to sub-degree programs through joint university admissions will receive a bonus of NT$5,000; those who successfully enroll in a bachelor's degree program will receive a bonus of NT$20,000; and the top three students with the best six subjects will receive bonuses ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$40,000.

These scholarships can not only be used for further studies, but more importantly, help students establish learning goals and encourage them to strive for progress. Last year, many students were successfully admitted to locally funded bachelor's degree programs. Two of them, with their outstanding performance in arts and engineering, were directly admitted to undergraduate programs through school recommendations. For students who are recommended to go overseas but face financial difficulties, the school will also provide bursaries to ensure that every student who works hard to achieve their goals has a chance to succeed.
