MKMCF Ma Chan Duen Hey Memorial College is committed to creating a campus environment for each student to gain knowledge, realize self-growth, and learn to care for others. Under the leadership of Principal Chui Samuel Wing Ho, the school has built a scientific and warm education system around the core goal of students' all-round development, from building a caring campus, improving teaching quality, developing special courses, expanding diversified learning, and caring for students' mental health, so that students can thrive in a loving learning environment.

Build a caring campus, serve the community, and practice inclusion

In the past two years, the school has attached great importance to building a caring campus and carefully planned the allocation of teachers: a "three-class teacher system" was implemented for Form 1 and Form 2; a "double-class teacher system" was adopted for Form 3 to Form 6. The school has also strengthened class management this year and cooperated with the QSIP program of the Chinese University of Hong Kong to help teachers care for students more efficiently. Principal Chui Samuel Wing Ho said: "Newly arrived students face challenges such as cultural differences, different learning styles, and language communication. The school hopes to cultivate a sense of inclusion among all students, so that students from different backgrounds and cultures can learn to care for each other."

In order to further extend care to a wider area, the school makes full use of the resources of the Lutheran Church, the school's sponsoring organization, to allow students to visit the elderly in nursing homes run by the Lutheran Church. It also encourages students to pay attention to and help groups with special needs. Promote "Group Learning" and "Four Studies" to feel the meaning of learning

English teaching is a key area of the school's "high value-added" goal. The school first emphasizes the teachers' teaching attitude - every teacher firmly believes that "every student can learn English well." This year, the school further allocated teaching resources to the English subject and hired a third foreign teacher to create a stronger English context. In terms of teaching methods, the school advocates the "group learning" model and adopts the principle of mixed ability, assigning students with different English proficiency to the same group, allowing students with stronger English proficiency to consolidate what they have learned while explaining knowledge to their peers, and also develop leadership skills.

The school summarizes this learning model as "four studies": first, "self-study", students independently preview before class to prepare for class; second, "joint study", based on students' pre-class preview, teachers conduct "joint study" and construct knowledge through discussions within the group; third It is "mutual learning". Last year, secondary school students tried to make a claw machine. Through projects close to life, STEAM education is closely connected with daily life. As long as they dare to try, they can create practical works with their own hands. The school also organizes students to participate in a number of competitions in the STEAM field. For example, they went to Singapore to participate in an international STEAM competition and won third place. In addition, the school also plans to launch a self-driving car project, using programming technology to control the speed and direction of the vehicle, and at the same time controlling the vehicle camera through programming. For example, it offers the DSE music subject - last year, a student who loved saxophone and had reached the performance level. Before the DSE results were released, he had been unconditionally admitted to the Music Department of Hong Kong Baptist University, which fully embodies the school's educational philosophy of "teaching students in accordance with their aptitude."

In addition, the school also introduces applied learning courses, such as early childhood education, creative media, Japanese courses, etc. The school fully respects students' wishes, first collects information on areas of interest, and then offers corresponding courses based on students' choices. The school has incorporated some APL courses into regular courses. Students can complete APL courses on campus without taking extra time after school or on Saturdays. If students want to learn more APL courses, the school will also arrange for students to attend courses at other institutions on Saturdays to provide more support for students' career planning.

Diversified development platform to develop healthy habits

In terms of extracurricular activities, the school also focuses on providing students with a platform for diversified development. Indoor rowing is the school's traditional strength. Last year, a student won third place in Hong Kong in this event. A Form 6 student was even selected for the Hong Kong team and went to the Mainland for training. At the same time, fancy rope skipping is also the school's advantage, and the student has won second place in Hong Kong many times.

This year, the school has further enriched its physical education team and hired former members of the Hong Kong team as coaches to promote the development of the school's track and field program. Previously, the school already had a sports coach who was also from the Hong Kong team responsible for the guidance of the fancy rope skipping project. The two coaches can not only provide students with more professional training guidance, but also pass on the fighting spirit and professional attitude of top athletes to students, inspiring students to achieve better results in the field of sports and develop healthy living habits.

Adopt a "three-tier support model" and establish a "counseling ambassador" team

In terms of student counseling and mental health care, the school adopts a "three-tier support model", that is, through universal support, selective support and targeted support, the school pays comprehensive attention to the physical, mental and spiritual health of all students in the school. The school has specially introduced two professional mental health support projects this year: one is the "Teen Envoy" jointly launched by Kwai Chung Hospital and Sijian to promote positive mental health concepts; the other is the "Jockey Club Parallel Heart (Campus Edition)" which will be launched from the next school year. The school also established a "Counseling Ambassador" team last year, and its members prioritized some students who had deficiencies in social skills and emotional control, or who had potential psychological support needs. Through the "helping others to help themselves" model, they can achieve self-growth while participating in counseling work. Last year, the Counseling Ambassadors completed the Jockey Club’s Student Gatekeeper Training. The school also invites professional art therapists to provide art therapy and skill improvement courses to help students master more emotional regulation and interpersonal communication skills.
