- Stay quiet in the waiting area
- Do not criticize the school environment
The Moment of Separation
Most schools do not allow parents in the interview area:
- Give your child a gentle hug and say "You can do it!"
- Tell them "Mommy/Daddy will be right here waiting for you"
- Do not act overly emotional
When Picking Up Your Child
- Do not immediately ask "How did it go?"
- First say "You worked hard!"
- If your child says "I did not know some answers," do not show disappointment
Things Parents Must NOT Do
- Do not loudly criticize school facilities
- Do not compare your child to other children
- Do not smoke on campus
