language_policyThe school aims to foster students’ bi-literacy and trilingualism. In accordance with the refined language policy, lessons using English as the medium of instruction have been increased, an English Ambassadors program has been launched, diverse English activities have been implemented, and two native English-speaking teachers have been employed; QEF-funded English Corner was upgraded to enrich the English learning environment. Chinese Teahouse was built to promote Chinese Culture. Putonghua remains a compulsory subject for junior secondary students.
In addition, student interest in language learning is promoted through a wide range of activities, including English morning assemblies, lunchtime and after-school English activities, Chinese and English debate competitions, writing contests in both languages, submissions to newspapers, the publication of students’ writing anthologies and school newsletters, extensive reading schemes in Chinese and English, holiday reading reward schemes, online reading programs, participation in the Hong Kong Speech Festival, and holiday English enhancement courses.

The School emphasizes promoting a healthy green campus and fostering healthy lifestyles. We have recently been funded one million four hundred thousand dollars from the Environment and Conservation Fund for implementing On-site Portioned Meal service so as to promote healthy eating culture and Green Lunch. The School organises Health Carnival annually to promote healthy lifestyle. Our school has proudly received the 'Green School Award'. ‘We Zone’ and ‘1984 Garden’ were built with the financial support of over one million dollars from the Jockey Club Well-being Project.

school_green_policyTo enhance students' awareness of environmental protection, the school promotes green living in four areas - environmental education, waste reduction and separation, energy saving and environmental appreciation. Our school was awarded the Hong Kong Green School Award - Bronze award.
learning_and_teaching_strategiesThe school treasures pleasurable and interactive learning. E-Learning & STEAM Education are highlighted. Students are equipped with learning skills. Students' active learning attitude and critical thinking are enhanced through group discussions and presentations. Small-group tutorials and holiday enrichment courses and regular assessments help to enhance the effectiveness of learning. Visits, Field trips and exchange programmes have been organised for students to broaden their outlook, improve their communication capabilities and foster their self-management skills. To improve the effectiveness of learning and teaching, collaboration periods, lesson observations, team teaching have also been implemented.

2. Curriculum highlights: The school curriculum unfurled with diversity, embracing the eight key learning areas to broaden students' horizons and develop various abilities and generic skills. In junior forms, the medium of instruction of some of the lesson time of several subjects will be changed to English so as to enhance students' English proficiency. The school has incorporated STEAM Education with AI elements into the junior curriculum, allowing inter-disciplinary learning. School-based curriculum focusing on the enhancement of schemes and coordination with the Senior Secondary Education System with the aim to improve the effectiveness of learning and teaching.
major_renewed_emphases_in_the_school_curriculum1. Learning through Reading: The school actively cultivates students' interest in reading through diverse activities, including silent reading sessions, thematic reading workshops, Chinese and English reading reward schemes, new book exhibitions, student presentations during morning assemblies, Chinese reading sharing sessions, and the publication of student writing anthologies and school newsletters in both languages. These initiatives aim to foster sustainable reading habits.
A school-based reading booklet has been developed to provide students with materials on a wide range of topics, thereby broadening their knowledge and perspectives. The school has successfully secured a reading fund to install an e-reading kiosk. Furthermore, the library has been renovated with upgraded RFID facilities to provide an enhanced reading environment.
2. Interactive e-Learning: Funded by wifi 900, the school purchased tablet PCs to supplement teaching. Funded by IT Innovation Lab in Secondary school, different courses are organised to enhance the information literacy of students including coding skills. The school premises are serviced by full internet coverage with STEM room & two computer rooms which provide convenience to students for searching information needed in projects and accessing the online learning programmes. Most of the classrooms are equipped with projectors, computers and visualizers. Secondary one to six classrooms are equipped with the Interactive Whiteboard. A Flight simulator is set up for interactive learning.
3. Project learning: The school offers 'Project learning' in Secondary Three CES. Students are studying in groups with the guidance of teachers. Outstanding projects will be recommended for inter-school competitions. Other forms and subjects are organizing cross-subject projects as assignments to enhance students' generic skills.
4. Moral and Civic Education: Discipline, Counselling, Civic Education, Social Studies and Moral Education are given full attention. Morning assemblies, weekly assemblies, moral education seminars, group counseling and class teacher periods are offered to students.

In order to nurture students’ potentials and build self-confidence, we offer individualized support such as training on social skills, expressive arts activities and interest groups. Remedial learning groups and assessment accommodation are implemented to raise students’ learning efficacy. To enhance communication between teachers and parents, regular meetings and discussions are held to solicit parents’ views on student progress.
adaptation_for_learning_and_assessmentThe assessment of students' progress is characterized by regular diagnostic evaluations and follow-ups. The academic year is divided into two terms ended with an examination. Continuous assessment is practised. Assessment methods include oral presentations, various kinds of exercises and even activities, apart from tests and examinations.
home_school_co_operation3 Parent Days to strengthen Home School Cooperation were organised each year. Parents activity participated in Home School Cooperation's activities e.g. over 200 participants in PTA Picnic. Our Parent-Teacher Association was awarded a ‘Q-mark Parent-Teacher Association Certificate’. With warm support from parents, our school has won the honour of Meritable School in the Parents Respect Teachers Campaign for ten consecutive years.

We have adopted a Whole School Approach, appointing all teachers to be class teachers. 2 Class Teachers for each class. We integrate Discipline, Counseling, Voluntary Services, Civic Education, Social Studies and Moral Education into an entity. In Moral Education, messages are put across in morning assemblies, class teachers' time, seminars, small group sessions, weekly assemblies, the materials and activities devised by our teachers in Moral Education sessions. An award scheme has been introduced to encourage excellent performance in conduct, study, services and activities. Our school is granted the "Caring School" and "Hi-Five Student Engagement Emotional Engagement" awards.

othersLearning and Teaching:
Student performance in HKDSE was great. The passing rates for the 4 core subjects (Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and CSD) reach 99%, greatly exceeding the overall levels in HK. The passing rates for elective subjects average an outstanding 97%, much higher than the overall levels in HK. The credit rates increased. Nine subjects have high credit rates (Level 4 or above) that are higher than the overall levels in HK. Five subjects has high credit rates (Level 5 or above) that are higher than the overall levels in HK. 93% have attained 222A2, going beyond the overall standards in HK. The performance was remarkable.
Students have achieved remarkable success in various academic competitions. In the Hong Kong UNESCO Association Sustainable Development English Debate Competition (Final) 2024/25, our school’s Secondary 5 team won the championship, and the Secondary 4 team won second runner-up. Three students received the Harvard Book Prize 2025, two students were awarded the Brown University Book Award, and one student won the Princeton University 2025 Book Award. Three students won the Overall League Championship and the Excellence Award at the InnoBotZ 2025 inaugural tournament. In the Science Online Self-Study Program 2025, over 40% of our school’s junior form students received gold, silver, and bronze awards. With the encouragement of their teachers, their academic performance has been commendable.

Student Growth:
Students have excelled in various fields, bringing honor to our school, Po Leung Kuk, and Hong Kong. The robotics team represented Hong Kong in Singapore at the Singapore IDE VIQRC Champion Series 2025, achieving third place and the Judges’ Award. Four students represented Hong Kong, China, in national and international competitions.
A Form 4 student represented Hong Kong in the World Jump Rope Championships, winning bronze in the Women’s Team Four-Person Single Rope Freestyle and fourth place in the Women’s Team Two-Person Single Rope Freestyle. A Form 5 student represented Hong Kong in the Singapore FIoorball Open. A Form 2 student competed for Hong Kong in the National Youth U-Series Hockey Championship U15 category and won silver. A Form 5 student represented Hong Kong in the 20th Little Five Rams Cup Youth Awards, securing fourth place in the Men’s Group A.
One secondary student won the championship in the International Contemporary Dance category at the Asian Student Art Festival. Another student earned a silver award in the Senior Guzheng Solo category at the Hong Kong Chinese Music Competition. Demonstrating strong teamwork, the school’s Marching Band was invited to perform as part of the "Hong Kong Schools Marching Band" in the Shanghai Tourism Festival parade.
The progress and achievements of our students in academics, sports, arts, and music are truly commendable.
