oa_orientation_activities_n_healthy_lifeInduction Programme is designed to provide students with a better understanding of the school. This includes learning about the school scripture, school song, campus environment, ECA exploration and the use of ICT for learning. Additionally, we will help students understand more about the school’s expectations, especially with regard to manners and etiquette. They will also have the opportunity to get to know their classmates and make new friends.

We emphasize the importance of eating healthy food and doing the right amount of physical exercises to keep our students physically fit for challenges in life. In addition, the school based Personal, Social and Health Education curriculum provides a platform for students to learn and understand various moral and civic education issues, healthy life and eating habit, study skills and careers topics.

Our school also works with a canteen service provider, Sodexo, to provide on-site catering service for our students. A team of chefs prepares wholesome and healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks for students every day. The choices are always in a great variety and multi-cultural, healthy and of a high standard.

school_green_policyA variety of measures to save energy and resources have been implemented. This includes a cooperation with the school canteen provider, Sodexo, to minimize food waste across the school. Furthermore, the school has enrolled in The Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS) and has formed a team of TASS Ambassadors to promote sustainability and environmental protection. These themes are also integrated into the Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education curriculum for all students.

learning_and_teaching_strategiesOur teaching approaches put the student at the centre of the learning process. We aim to provide student-centred learning and teaching experiences which actively engage students in developing their understanding. In most cases students are placed in appropriate sets according to subject choice and ability.

All subjects in the school are taught in English (except second language). We offer both UK curriculum - IGCSE and GCE A-Level, and local curriculum leading to the HKDSE. In Form 3, students can apply to either continue with the HKDSE in Forms 4 to 6 or apply to take IGCSE examinations in Form 4 and then GCE Advanced Level ("A" Levels) in Form 5 and 6.

This year, the school puts special emphasis on students' ownership of learning, and strategies such as Assessment for Learning and independent study skills and self-assessment strategies are in place to help improve learning and achievement.

life_planning_educationTo develop positive attitude towards work and learning and integrate aspirations with whole-person development and life-long learning, Life-Planning is crucial to students. Our school introduces a “FUTURE” programme to provide F.1 to F.6 students with quality life planning education and career guidance services which are aligned with the diverse, developmental needs of students at different forms. The activities range from self-exploration/self-adjustment, study and career options, work placement experience to further education expo, etc. Students are supported to make informed decisions in relation to their interests, abilities and orientations as well as assisted to manage and adapt to the transition from school to the workplace.
whole_school_approach_cater_for_learner_diversityStudents taking English, second language (Chinese) and Mathematics are divided into smaller groups of approximately 20. In the higher forms, a great variety of subjects such as Drama, Literature in English are offered.
whole_school_approach_integrated_educationOur school implements inclusive education through a Whole School Approach, providing various support and care for students with special learning needs through the Student Support Team, which includes a special educational needs coordinator, an educational psychologist, two resident social workers, a student counselor, and several teaching assistants. We also arrange for teachers to take courses related to inclusive education to enhance their professional skills.

We flexibly utilize the Learning Support Grant and the Grant for Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking Students with Special Educational Needs to provide diverse learning support for students with special educational needs including Non-Chinese speaking students with SEN. This includes hiring inclusive education teaching assistants to offer appropriate support, such as in-class assistance and individual tutoring during break times and after school. Additionally, to further support our students, we effectively use the Learning Support Grant to implement targeted intervention programs for students with special educational needs, including a Social Skills Group to enhance communication and interpersonal relationships, an Active Group to develop executive functioning and organizational skills, and a reading and writing training group for students with specific learning difficulties.

Our school collaborates closely with the special educational needs coordinator, educational psychologists, social workers, and other professionals, holding regular meetings to develop individualized education plans and assess their effectiveness regularly, helping them effectively support their children's learning.
support_for_non_chinese_studentsOur school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. The school, based on the learning background, experiences and ability of students, offers appropriate Chinese programmes and cultural exchange programmes for non-Chinese speaking students to facilitate the learning of Chinese.
adaptation_for_learning_and_assessmentTo support learners with special educational needs, the school provides a range of Access Arrangements, including additional time allowances, supervised breaks, the use of assistive aids, and modifications to presentation formats as needed.
fee_remissionOur school offers the "school-based assessment mechanism" approved by the Education Bureau. Needy students, including those from families receiving the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) and students receiving financial assistance provided by the Student Finance Office of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency (WFSFAA), could apply for fee remission.
