language_policyOur school places great emphasis on developing students’ English proficiency. From F.1 to F.3, certain classes are taught primarily in English. To support the school’s English development, we actively collaborate with external organizations to provide additional learning opportunities. The English Department implements a range of activities to systematically enhance students’ English proficiency. We also create an English-rich environment during morning assemblies and lunchtime through regular English activities. Apart from our Lutheran-specialized “International Interface” programme, we also organize overseas study tours, allowing students to experience authentic English use and cross-cultural learning.

school_organisationThe Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) of our school has been established. We have a well-developed self-evaluation system to reinforce the implementation of school-based management. A Professional Development Team for teachers has also been set up to enhance teaching effectiveness. The Parent-Teacher Association and the Alumni Association have been established for many years, providing the school with broad-based support.
imc_smc_mcFounded in 2007, the Incorporated Management Committee of the school comprise of the sponsoring body, the principal, teachers, parents, alumni, and independent members. Guided by the spirit of school-based management, the IMC allows the school to allocate resources more flexibly and enhance the quality and effectiveness of education.
school_green_policyThe school is committed to promoting environmental education, aiming to cultivate students’ awareness of and ability to practice sustainability. Environmental concepts are integrated into the curriculum, and recycling bins are provided on campus to facilitate waste sorting. Thermometers in classrooms remind students to use air conditioning only when necessary, helping to conserve energy. The school also actively participates in initiatives organized by environmental groups, including Green Picnic, Green Christmas, and Green Campus, using diverse activities to strengthen students’ environmental awareness. Furthermore, the school is a registered member of the Environmental Protection Department’s “We-recycle@School” activity, further enhancing the practical implementation of environmental education.

learning_and_teaching_strategiesFrom F.1 to F.3, some classes are conducted primarily in English, while others use the mother tongue. In senior secondary, small-group teaching is implemented for core subjects, and some subjects are also taught in English. Self-directed learning and e-learning are actively promoted to enhance teaching and learning. Based on the central curriculum, supplemented by the school-based curriculum and tailored to students’ characteristics, the school uses diversified learning strategies and allocates time for extended English-medium activities. We also organize cross-curricular projects to broaden students’ horizons. We have also refined the junior Computer Literacy curriculum to develop information technology skills for the future. To enhance teaching quality, collaborative lesson planning and peer observation are implemented across subjects.
school_based_curriculum1. Electives: 2X and 3X. In senior secondary, students take 2 or 3 elective subjects.
2. Curriculum highlights: In the junior forms, subjects are planned according to the features of each Key Learning Area, with teaching and assessment policies designed to articulate with the senior secondary curriculum. For example, PSHE subjects adopt diverse learning activities, such as visits, field trips, and project learning, to develop students’ generic skills. Science and Technology Education KLAs use a cross-curricular approach to promote STEAM education. Students are also encouraged to take part in a variety of school-based and external activities and competitions to develop their potential and showcase their strengths.
major_renewed_emphases_in_the_school_curriculumTo foster a reading culture, in addition to the reading schemes in Chinese and English, we have launched the Reading Award Scheme and the e-Reading Scheme. A weekly Morning Reading Session is arranged where teachers and students are invited to recommend books. The school also regularly organizes theme-based reading activities, talks, and book exhibitions to cultivate students’ reading habits. For project learning, junior secondary students follow a well-structured plan where authentic learning has been integrated. Training is provided progressively according to students’ abilities, helping them build skills that foster life-long learning. In the area of Moral and Civic Education, cross-curricular and cross-departmental collaboration is adopted. Through class teacher periods and other activities, students are guided to develop positive values and attitudes, becoming law-abiding citizens who serve both society and God. To broaden their horizons, Mainland and overseas cultural exchange tours are also organized. To promote interactive learning through Information Technology, the school has installed a wireless network infrastructure and electronic whiteboards, and implemented the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) scheme to support e-learning. An online learning management platform is also in place, enabling students to access materials for pre-study and revision at home, thereby enhancing learning effectiveness.
life_planning_educationOur school adopts a whole-school approach to life planning education, providing activities at different levels to help students explore themselves, understand their aspirations, and set appropriate life goals. Life planning lessons are held in F.1 to F.6 levels while life education lessons are organized to help students establish appropriate goals in life. Students also gain valuable workplace exposure through company visits, life planning groups, the Community-based Learning Award Scheme, and business-school partnership programmes. We also launch a Counseling Day for F.3 to F.6 students to provide individual consultation about their studies and life planning. Recognizing the important role of parents, the school also organizes information seminars for F.3 and F.6 parents on elective subjects, further studies, and career opportunities, enabling them to better support their children’s growth.

whole_school_approach_cater_for_learner_diversityOur school embraces the idea of "Diversity at School”. There are remedial and enhancement classes that cater for different learning needs in English Language and Mathematics. For senior secondary, flexible grouping is adopted in some core and elective subjects to cater for learner diversity. Student Support Team is formed to cater for different learning needs. Careers and Guidance Team plans and implements school-based materials to prepare students for better career and life planning.
whole_school_approach_integrated_educationTo support students with diverse learning needs, the Student Support Team is formed and led by the Special Educational Needs Coordinator. The team utilizes the Learning Support Grant so that students with special learning needs can benefit from speech therapy, social skills training, after-school homework support and literacy courses. The Team does regular follow-ups with our the educational psychologist and social workers so as to tailor-make special learning materials and assessment tools for students concerned. We have also applied for extra resources such as Healthy School Programme and Student Mental Health Support Scheme according to the different needs of our students.
support_for_non_chinese_studentsOur school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
adaptation_for_learning_and_assessmentThere are two examinations and two uniform tests throughout the academic year. To cater for learner diversity, tiered assignments are designed and continuous assessment is adopted.

home_school_co_operationThe Parent-teacher Association has been set up for years as a platform for parental involvement in school affairs and collecting opinions from parents. Besides organizing a variety of activities, parents have taken an active role in being school volunteers, contributing to a closer relationship among parents, teachers and students. PTA has also set up scholarships to further enhance student development.
school_ethosWe are renowned as a “caring campus” with good teacher-student relationship. We practice a “dual class teacher system” and “form-based management” through Forms 1 – 5 to strengthen the communication between students and teachers. What’s more, our social worker and education psychologist give full support to students with problems. To cultivate team spirit, all Form 1 students have to be members of the uniform team.

teacher_pro_training_and_devThe school has a Professional Development Team that regularly organizes workshops for teachers to exchange teaching experiences and enhance professional competence. Teachers are also encouraged to actively participate in external seminars and training sessions to keep abreast of the latest educational trends. Some of our teachers have been invited as guest speakers at seminars to share the school’s successful practices.
life_wide_learningWe provide comprehensive choices of extra-curricular activities covering the areas of religion, academic subjects, hobbies, services, sports and uniform teams. Our students have outstanding performances in the annual Speech Festival, dancing and sports competitions. All Form 1 students have to take part in one of the uniform teams and attend fellowship meetings regularly.

The school intranet announces latest school information to parents, such as parent letters and student homework schedules. All classrooms, special rooms and school halls are air-conditioned, with facilities such as an e-board, computers and projectors. Other special rooms on campus are the Student Activity Room, Multi-media Learning Centre, Study Room, Multi-purpose Exhibition Hall and Multi-purpose Theatre. Recently, we have developed school campus TV, Distance Learning Classroom, Creativity Learning Centre and Science Media Learning Centre. The school has built up Wi-Fi infrastructure to cater for the development of e-learning in class.
