language_policy	Our school adopts Chinese as the medium of instruction, and emphasizes the education of Two Languages Three Dialects. There is a fine tuning arrangement for the medium of instruction. For the non-language subjects, the subject teacher will organize Extended Learning Activities in English (ELA) for the class. The English Teacher gives full support in all programs. For Chinese and English Language lessons, students are allocated to small groups according to their language abilities.

imc_smc_mc	The incorporated management committee of Caritas Chai Wan Marden Foundation Secondary School, comprised of members of the school sponsoring body, the Principal, teacher representatives, parent representatives, alumni representative and the independents. The Incorporated Management Committee has been set up on 1st August, 2015 to ensure the smooth introduction and implementation of all school policies and measures.

learning_and_teaching_strategies	1. We adopt student-centred pedagogy to cater for students' learning diversity. 2. We encourage interactive teaching and learning. We adopt Chinese as the medium of instruction and implement small-group teaching as well as the "school-based remedial teaching approach. 3. We advocate life-wide learning and incorporate EDB's curriculum reform. These approaches effectively developing students' potential and learning capabilities. Senior secondary students can select their subjects according to their interests and abilities. Besides this, we promote life-wide learning. We conduct reading lessons and project-based learning lessons to improve students' communication skills, critical thinking, creativity and self-learning abilities. 4. We adopt the small-class policy to facilitate learning and teaching. We also run the "SMART Learning Support Program" to provide less capable students with the appropriate curriculum and fully support them. Small group teaching & learning, individual guidance, afterschool tuition are provided to all students in need, especially for those non-Chinese Students.

major_renewed_emphases_in_the_school_curriculum	1. In order to develop students with deeper understanding of the values embedded in Catholicism, our school endeavours to nurture students morally and spiritually. Our religious education also help students establish a positive attitude and value as well as a healthy view of life. 2. All our students are encouraged to participate in volunteering and national education related activities. These activities provide diverse experiences for students to learn to share, broaden their horizons and enhance students’ understanding of other country. Thus, students learn to respect for themselves and the others with a caring personality. The emphasis on moral education and this sustainable development envision the inheritance of the traditional practices of Caritas education. (1) Reading to Learn: Subject teachers and librarians encourage students to borrow books from the library to facilitate their good habits of reading. Reading Award Schemes are implemented to students to their promote writing book reviews or reflections and share them as recorded in their reading booklets. (2) Information Technology for Interactive Learning: All subjects are encouraged to make use of information technology to add value in teaching and learning, so that learning interests are boosted and learning effectiveness is enhanced. (3) Project Learning: Involving in investigations of compelling problems, students get a more thorough picture towards the project. Through the lessons, they acquire the skills to gather information, think critically, summarize their solution ideas and present their learning outcomes to others. (4) Moral and Civic Education: By holding seminars on different themes, inviting guest speakers to school, holding school assemblies and different kinds of activities, our school would disseminate effectively about the knowledge concerning moral and civic education to students. Students are expected to be cultivated as committed and responsible citizens.

adaptation_for_learning_and_assessment	We adopt continuous assessments of students' course work and conduct tests and examinations for students' assessment.
home_school_co_operation	We give full support and encouragement to students through frequent communication with parents, e.g. Home visits, Parents' Day, PTA activities and meetings. Home visits are conducted at least once to all students during their junior forms and senior forms. Parents are invited to school functions, Sports Days, Christmas Party and School Anniversary.
school_ethos	Our school won the 2009 Caring School Award and Outstanding Volunteer Team. We give full support and care to all students. We provide 'Life Education' lessons and adventure-based counseling activities to nurture students' positive attitudes towards life as well as enhance the full development of their multiple intelligences. We give adequate opportunities for students in developing their potential through various co-curricular activities related to Other Learning Experiences (OLE) such as volunteer work, Students’ Union, being Librarians and School Prefects etc. Our school volunteer team got "the Outstanding Volunteer Project" and the "Star of Volunteers" award presented by the Social Welfare Department. Our Principal was awarded to be one of the Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2005 for her contribution in social services and her influence among the youth.

Our voluntary team has served our community for many years and was awarded by the Social Welfare Department. The Basketball School Team has been the champion in many inter-school competitions. Our students have also received different awards from the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, 2024 UWEE LOUVRE International Art Exhibition Bronze Award.
