school_organisationThe school adopts school-based management and values communication and collaboration at different levels. School Development Committee, consisting of appointed teachers as members, discuss and formulate plans and policies for school development. It leads 3 policy divisions: Academic Development, Student Development, School Administration and Management. Staff meetings are held regularly to foster consensus and coordination.
imc_smc_mcIt comprises representatives from the Sponsoring Body, the Principal, teachers, parents, past pupil and independent person to ensure the school is managed according to the mission statement of the Catholic religion and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
school_green_policyTo enhance environmental awareness, the school promotes environmental education. Activities are held to promote waste classification and recycling, and reduce energy consumption. Some students are appointed Environmental Monitresses.
learning_and_teaching_strategiesThe school provides students with a harmonious and good learning ambience. It offers a broad and balanced curriculum. On top of formal curriculum, activity days are held to promote life-wide learning to broaden students’ horizons. The school promotes a student-oriented teaching mode and adopts diversified strategies. There are enhancement classes for S1 to S3 to raise the learning capacity of high achievers. Homework guidance classes and Chinese, English and Mathematics enrichment classes are run in the junior levels to cater for students' learning needs. For S1-S2 Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics, small group learning is arranged so as to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness. To foster a proper learning attitude among students, attitude marks are allocated in the assessment component for all subjects.

Our teacher librarian collaborates with various subject panels in enhancing a proactive reading culture at school and helping students develop their reading habits and interests as well as their self-learning abilities. We promote reading across the curriculum through Chinese and English extensive reading schemes and e-reading programmes. A variety of reading activities such as book clubs, author talks, book recommendations and book fairs are organized. Students are encouraged to participate in territory-wide reading events like Reading Carnival, Reading Contract and Top Ten Book Picks.

Information Technology for Interactive Learning:
e-Learning is implemented in all subjects. Students are encouraged to make good use of online learning platforms for self-directed learning.

Spiritual and Character Formation:
We have been educating students according to St. John Bosco’s educational principles. We strive to nourish their spiritual lives and instill in them Catholic core values. Besides, we put great emphasis on students’ character formation. In addition to the Ethics and Religious Education curriculum, a variety of moral education activities are organized to cultivate students’ moral values and help them build a positive self-image as well as nurturing positive values and attitudes in them.

Life-wide Learning:
A wide variety of life-wide learning activities are organized to encourage students to extend their learning experience beyond the classroom, broadening their horizons.
life_planning_educationThe school implements a whole-school life planning education programme. A series of activities are organized to help students of different forms understand their interests and strengths in order to plan their future career paths. It includes parents’ nights, talks, workshops and visits. Group and individual career counseling are offered to students in need. In addition, a Mentorship Programme with the support of alumnae is held for students from S3 to S6. Career-related information will also be timely disseminated.

Our school also encourages teachers to attend the training courses of ‘Special Educational Needs - 3 Tier Model’ to update their knowledge and skills so as to build the foundation for an inclusive campus.

adaptation_for_learning_and_assessmentTo enhance learning and teaching effectiveness, formative and summative assessments are equally emphasized. Summative assessment is conducted through uniform tests and examinations. Diverse modes of formative assessment are also employed such as daily performance in class, learning attitude, homework, project learning, quizzes, peer evaluation and self-evaluation. At the junior levels, Chinese, English and Mathematics classes are split into smaller learning groups to facilitate small class teaching. In addition, S1-S3 enrichment classes in Chinese, English and Mathematics are organized after school to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
home_school_co_operationThe PTA acts as a bridge among parents, teachers and students. It publishes a newsletter named “Bridge” regularly, monitors the quality and operation of the suppliers, and organizes different activities such as tea gathering, talks, consultation meetings and outdoor activities to enhance communication between the parents and the school. Our school also keeps close contact with parents by issuing circulars and organizing Parents’ Day regularly.

Appraisals, peer observation and collaborative lesson planning are conducted to promote staff development. School-based and subject-based sharing sessions are held regularly. Some teachers are arranged to receive SEN training. Teachers also promote their own sustained professional development while striving for better performance in teaching through lifelong learning.
life_wide_learningMore than 30 extra-curricular activities in 7 categories: religion, academics, interest, arts, sports, social and school services. All S1 students are required to join at least one extra-curricular activity. In addition, learning activities such as visits, cultural study tours and workshops are organized on the activity days, after school and during post-exam periods. Study tours are held during school holidays for broadening students' horizons.

others~~~ Mentorship Programme, Academic Enhancement Programme and Social Entrepreneurship School Programme ~~~

The Past Pupil Association, which has always been playing an active role in making significant contributions to give back to its alma mater. Its particular focus is to enhance students’ academic performance and develop skills needed to get on in life. It is also hoped that through various interactions, a strong alumnae bonding would be developed and, hence, contributing to communities.

* Mentorship Programme: Alumnae are invited to act as Mentors for S3 to S6 students, imparting knowledge of different professions, sharing life experience and offering them advice on further education and future careers.

* Academic Enhancement Programme: This program invites alumnae to serve as mentors and provide after-school tutorial, with the aim of enhancing students' learning motivation and effectiveness. Sponsorship is provided for the study tours so as to broaden students’ horizons and their English language proficiency. Scholarships are offered to recognize outstanding students who have excelled in academic, non-academic, and community service activities within and outside the school.

* Social Innovation Campus Programme: It aims to cultivate students' leadership qualities while enabling them to apply what they have learned and promote the concept of sustainable development, which is a global concern. This is complemented by social innovation education activities that encourage students to use innovative thinking to address personal and social challenges. These activities include social entrepreneur sharing sessions, global perspective workshops, dialogues with ethnic minorities, workshops on event planning and management, and training activities for the wellbeing in nature.
