language_policy1) The College uses mainly English as the medium of instruction. Some lessons may be conducted in Cantonese or in Putonghua, depending on the lesson. Assemblies are conducted either in English or Putonghua while visiting speakers may use Cantonese.
2) The College joined the Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) in September 2008. This allows curriculum flexibility—offering more electives, school-based subjects, and local and international examination opportunities. Learning another language should enhance their academic and linguistic development.
3) To echo the policy of the Hong Kong Government to develop Hong Kong as a regional educational hub, we have an exchange and immersion programme for students to develop a national multi-cultural and global outlook.

sc_remarksSt. Stephen's College adopts Putonghua as the medium of instruction in Chinese Language in the junior forms. The College is an authorized IB World School and offers the IBDP in parallel with the HKDSE. Annual Tuition Fee for (IBDP) students $109,200.

oa_orientation_activities_n_healthy_life1) New students' orientation camp is held for S.1 students in late August to enhance new students’ understanding of the College, develop their skills for learning to learn and get them ready for adapting to their school life.
2) Parents’ orientation is also held to foster the relationships among parents, students and the school.
3) To enhance students’ physical development, our campus is equipped with various sports facilities such as a 50-metre swimming pool, an indoor gymnasium and a cross-country track, etc.
4) To enhance students' aesthetic development, our campus is equipped with individual practice rooms for students learning musical instruments, and a Blackbox Theatre for drama education or development.
5) Balanced diet will be provided for the boarders.

2) School-based management is adopted. Different committees are set up in different areas such as curriculum development, ECA, moral and civic education, discipline and guidance. The Coordinators of these teams form the School Administration Committee and the School Improvement Team to review school policies.

school_based_curriculum1. Electives: 3X. The College will offer in Senior Secondary the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in parallel with the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education.
2. Curriculum highlights: To align with the requirement for biliteracy and trilingualism, Chinese Language is taught in Putonghua in junior forms. Cantonese is used as the medium of instruction in Chinese Language in senior forms. To strengthen students’ ability of Classical Chinese, supplementary materials are tailor-made at different levels. whole_school_approach_cater_for_learner_diversityThe junior form classes have been split into 9 groups per form in language classes and is about 20 students in a group so as to maximize teacher-student and student-student interactions.
whole_school_approach_integrated_education1) Student support team flexibly makes use of Learning Support Grant and adopts a 3-tier support model to provide appropriate support for students according to their diverse needs. Tier-1: Early identification and quality teaching in the regular classroom for students with transient or mild learning difficulties. Tier-2: Additional support for students with persistent learning difficulties. Tier-3: Intensive individualized support for students with severe learning difficulties.
2) SEN students are followed up by student support team including SEN coordinator, teachers and School Social Workers. Case conferences are held to give guidelines to teachers on how to support the SEN students. Teachers are informed of special arrangements for SEN students, including arrangements for tests and examinations.
support_for_non_chinese_studentsOur school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school; and our school uses Putonghua to teach Chinese in all classes / groups at certain levels with extra support as appropriate, e.g. pull-out/small-group classes, learning and teaching resources with Pinyin, etc.

fee_remissionOur school offers full school fee remission, 3/4, 1/2 or 1/4 school fee remission. Needy students, including those from families receiving the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) and students receiving financial assistance provided by the Student Finance Office of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency (WFSFAA), could apply for fee remission.
- Newly admitted students could apply for the school fee remission 20 week(s) before the commencement of the new school year. Application results will be announced within 8 week(s) after submission of applications. Successful applicants ECA subsidies and study tour exchange are entitled to, and boarding applicants may be granted boarding fee remission partially. home_school_co_operation1) In order to enhance the effectiveness of education at home and at school, activities such as career talks, thematic seminars and workshops are organized.
2) To support the school development, the PTA offers scholarships and subsidies for students’ activities. It also prepares gifts and cards to show respect for teachers. Some of the parents also participate in some services organized by the school.

othersAcademic Scholarships:
Academic scholarships are awarded based on academic merits, ranking and good conduct. Current S.1-S.3 and S.4-S.5 (C, D, H, J classes) students who rank in the top five places of their grade will be offered full scholarship in the form of a 100% school fee remission. Students who rank between the sixth and tenth places will be offered half scholarships in the form of a 50% school fee remission.
S.4-S.5 (L, Y classes), the top two: 100%, the third to fifth: 50%.
All those who get the S.1 admission scholarship and rank among the top 10% in the following year, will be offered full scholarship, or between 10.1%-15%, half scholarship.
Non-academic scholarships:
Scholarships will be awarded to students for their excellent performance in sports, music, visual arts or special talents.
Other subsidies/allowances:
The school will use its best efforts in conjunction with other suitable resources, to assist students with financial needs. Examples: subsidising students to participate in ECA, exchange & immersion activities outside Hong Kong.
