learning_and_teaching_strategiesCurriculum development is based on the idea of whole person development and allowing students to choose subjects that suit their attitude and aptitude. All F.1 to F.6 students have to study Religious and Moral Education for two periods per cycle. F.4 students have to take three elective subjects. Indeed, our F.4 students have many subject combinations to choose from. Besides the formal curriculum, we also organise sports days, swimming galas, sports competitions of all sorts, music contest, instrumental music classes, sports training courses and social service activities, so students can develop in a suitable area of education. We also encourage students to take part in some religious activities to enhance their knowledge about Catholicism. For many years, we have been providing study rooms and running study skill courses to help students "learn how to learn".

whole_school_approach_cater_for_learner_diversityThe Guidance Department, the Student Support Team, Social Workers, Educational Psychologist and class teachers work together and take care of students who might need help.
whole_school_approach_integrated_educationThe school is committed to building an inclusive and caring campus. With a Whole School Approach, it supports students with special educational needs by providing them with appropriate and diversified support services to enhance their learning effectiveness. The Student Support Team includes Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Head of Guidance Department, teachers who have received special education training and a teaching assistant. Two school social workers, an educational psychologist, and a speech therapist provide professional assistance to the school and students. These professionals provide teachers with training to support students with special educational needs.

The school has a flexible use of the Learning Support Grant to recruit a teaching assistant and purchase professional services (such as social skills training and executive skills training). The school also provides special examination arrangement for students in need. The school also provides assessment, referral and individual education plan for students with serious special learning needs, and helps students learn through interdisciplinary cooperation.

The school attaches great importance to home-school cooperation in supporting students. The speech therapist will also provide parents with professional advice to help improve students’ speech abilities at home.
support_for_non_chinese_studentsOur school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; and organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school.
adaptation_for_learning_and_assessmentThere are three examinations every school year. Informal tests for different subjects are also arranged from time to time.

school_ethosSing Yin Secondary School is dedicated to student guidance and discipline, adopting a balanced approach that integrates care with strictness, and encourages whole-school participation.

In terms of guidance, the school offers a variety of developmental activities, including the "Sing Yin Pioneers" programme and "F.1 Peer Support Groups", to provide appropriate support for students across different forms. These initiatives aim to help students build a positive self-concept, cultivate good social skills, and foster their holistic development.

Regarding discipline, the school has four prefect teams designed to nurture students' leadership skills and self-discipline. Our school maintains particularly stringent disciplinary requirements for students, which have cultivated a simple, disciplined, and excellent school ethos, enabling students to learn and grow in a positive environment.
school_dev_planMajor Concerns of the 2024-2027 School Development Cycle:
1. To foster positive values and attitudes among students;
2. To instil in students a mindset of excellence;
3. To build a creative and an innovative learning community for Students.
teacher_pro_training_and_devWe encourage teachers to further their studies; those who do may receive a subsidy.
life_wide_learningSing Yin Secondary School firmly believes that whole-person learning is crucial for student growth, and therefore provides rich and diverse learning experiences to broaden students' horizons and develop their potential.

The school offers approximately 60 ECA Clubs annually, encouraging students to actively participate. Every student is required to join at least one club each year, covering various fields such as academics, arts, sports, and community services. The operation of these clubs is primarily student-led, with teachers serving as advisers to guide and support them. This approach aims to cultivate students' organisational abilities, problem-solving skills, and leadership qualities.

Furthermore, the school regularly organises "Life-wide Learning Days." Students from all forms participate in a range of diverse activities, such as thematic lectures, career visits, national security education courses, and experiences with emerging sports. These activities are designed to encourage students to step out of the traditional classroom, explore knowledge from different perspectives, understand themselves, and cultivate civic awareness.

Notably, junior form students participate in the "Life Education Programme" jointly organised by the Religious and Moral Education Department and the Catholic Education Committee. This programme utilises experiential learning activities, including adventure training, team challenges, and social services, to cultivate the five core values of Catholic education and inspire students to demonstrate various positive values, thereby promoting their comprehensive spiritual and character development.
