learning_and_teaching_strategies1. In the learning and teaching process, we prioritize our students' interests. To enhance the effectiveness of classroom teaching, we have adopted cooperative learning across all subjects.
2. Beyond classroom teaching, we utilize various resources to promote all-round education. This is realised through activities such as S.1 education camps, senior-form Geography field trips, the JA Company Programme, senior-form Biology field trips, senior-form summer internship programmes, and the mentorship scheme.
3. At the junior secondary levels, the curriculum's core comprises Chinese Language, English Language, and Mathematics to provide students with a strong academic foundation. At the senior secondary levels, the curriculum is guided by two principles: increasing teaching hours and expanding learning opportunities. Extensive reading is integrated into the Chinese and English Language syllabuses, with an in-class English reading scheme being a key component.
school_based_curriculum1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Our school provides senior-form students with the option to choose between 2-elective and 3-elective combinations.
2. Curriculum highlights: A school-based curriculum is adopted for Computer Literacy, Putonghua, Design and Technology, Technology and Living, Visual Arts, IBS, and Civic Education in the junior forms to better cater to our students' learning needs.
major_renewed_emphases_in_the_school_curriculumReading to Learn: To foster a reading culture, the Reading Promotion Committee collaboratively organises various reading award schemes and activities with academic subjects and functional groups. The committee also organises book fairs, writer seminars, writing classes, and visits to relevant events and places.
Information Technology for Interactive Learning: All classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors and wireless broadband Internet access to facilitate interactive teaching and learning through information technology. The school intranet serves as a teaching and learning platform and a channel for communication among teachers and students.
Project Learning: All Secondary 2 students are grouped for the "Maker Project." In our STEAM Education Centre, students utilize various technologies and tools during the learning process of designing and manufacturing appliances. They are taught to integrate knowledge from Science, Computer Literacy, Design and Technology, and Mathematics.
Moral and Civic Education: The Moral and Civic Education Team is responsible for designing MCE lessons, which are conducted by class teachers. Additionally, the Counseling Team and social workers organise class-based activities, social service initiatives, and life education activities, while the Discipline Team organises preventive programmes related to student behavioural issues.
life_planning_educationCareer and life planning is a continuous, lifelong process with objectives to be achieved at different life stages. Our aim is to help students develop self-understanding, set meaningful goals, explore various options for further studies, and implement effective career and life planning strategies.
In alignment with the school's six-year development plan, different aspects of career and life planning are emphasized at various stages of learning. Our career and life planning program is closely integrated with our curriculum and extracurricular activities. During class teacher periods, students are guided to enhance their self-awareness and set personal goals.
We organize talks, workshops, parent nights, simulation games, and visits to tertiary institutions for students and parents. These activities provide up-to-date information on study options, entry requirements, and strategies for selecting senior secondary subjects.
Our School Incorporated Management Committee, in collaboration with various corporations, organizes the Mentorship Programme and Internship Programme. These initiatives are designed to broaden students' horizons and familiarize them with real-life workplace situations. Each student receives one-on-one guidance from teachers to help them set learning objectives and make informed JUPAS choices.
In conclusion, the school's career and life planning program aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for making educational and career decisions that align with their interests, abilities, and personal preferences, fostering holistic development and lifelong learning.

whole_school_approach_cater_for_learner_diversityThe Chinese, English, and Mathematics Departments have adopted small class teaching and learning modes to cater to the diverse learning needs of our students. A dual-class-teacher system has been implemented to better fulfil students' requirements. We have established a talent databank for students who have demonstrated potential in various areas. Students in the databank are offered extra training courses and are encouraged to participate in academic contests. We have established a Student Support Team comprising the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, the special education support teacher, the school-based educational psychologist, the school-based speech therapist, the Director of Academic Affairs, the heads of the Chinese, English, and Mathematics departments, and the school counsellor. The team meets regularly to provide appropriate support for students with special educational needs.
whole_school_approach_integrated_educationOur school is committed to creating an inclusive and caring campus. We adopt a whole-school approach to support students with special educational needs (SEN), providing them with appropriate and diversified support services to enhance their learning effectiveness and facilitate personal development.
Our Student Support Committee, consisting of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Special Educational Needs Support Teacher (SENST), Prefect of Studies, Heads of Chinese, English, and Mathematics, an educational psychologist, and a counselor, spearheads this initiative. We flexibly utilize the Learning Support Grant to recruit additional staff, including counselors, to assist students in various ways.
In addition, students in need have access to external professional services, such as speech therapy and social groups. We make special arrangements to support these students with their studies, homework, tests, and examinations. They are also offered assessment sessions, referrals, and individualized study programs.
We place great emphasis on cooperation between home and school. The SENCO and counselor regularly communicate with parents to facilitate collaboration in student support. Our school is dedicated to fostering a caring culture, promoting understanding among students about special learning needs, and ensuring those needs are met appropriately.
support_for_non_chinese_studentsOur school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school. Our school offers after-school Chinese classes specifically designed for non-Chinese speaking students. To enhance their learning experience, we hire part-time Chinese tutors dedicated to their instruction.
adaptation_for_learning_and_assessmentThe school's homework policy is subject-based, with the workload for each subject determined by the number of lessons in the timetable. We use the first and final examinations for summative assessment, while tests, assignments, and project learning products are utilized for formative assessment purposes.
