language_policyWe implement mother-tongue teaching from S.1 to S.6 (English instructional materials are used for some subjects in some classes). We encourage teachers and students to communicate through English after class. The whole-school approach to learning English is adopted in our School. Activities like debating, drama and story-telling, together with English Café, are used to help develop our students' biliterate and trilingual competence.

By teaching through activities and meaningful tasks, we aim to develop students' analytical and independent thinking abilities, and increase their learning motivation. We design our curriculum in the light of our students' needs. The discovery approach and project approach are used to induce learning. We minimize the amount of copying work and use diversified methods to assess our students. Our classrooms are equipped with computers, touch screen monitor & visualizers. We exploit high technology to support teaching and learning. We cultivate the spirit of respect for teachers, of serving the community and of self-actualization. whole_school_approach_cater_for_learner_diversityWe have put in operation two class-teachers to one class. Through this arrangement, we hope to further strengthen students' moral development and to enhance student counseling. We strive to continuously upgrade students' language ability through independent reading and reading-aloud.
whole_school_approach_integrated_educationThe School has adopted the Whole School Approach on the implementation of Integrated Education, with the Student Support Team consisting of Assistant Principal, SENCo, SENST, Chinese and English Teachers, and Teaching Assistants to assist students with special educational needs (SEN) and to arrange SEN-related courses for teachers to enhance their professional capacity. The School flexibly deploys resources from the Learning Support Grant, NCS-SEN Grant and other sources to cater for SEN students of their needs with suitable and diversified support, such as recruiting additional teachers and teaching assistants to provide appropriate backup. Meanwhile, speech therapy and occupational therapy services are also available for students with SEN.

To cater for learning diversities, the School has adopted curriculum adaptation, differentiated teaching strategies, tiered assignments and assessments adaptation to enhance the learning effectiveness of students with SEN. The School also closely collaborates with the Education Bureau and school-based educational psychologists, holding regular meetings to assess their learning performance. Parents are invited to participate in the meetings to assist in planning and evaluating the effectiveness of their children’s Individualized Educational Programme (IEP), as well as to attend workshops to equip themselves with effective parenting skills.
support_for_non_chinese_studentsOur school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: providing after-school support programmes in learning Chinese; appointing additional teacher(s)/teaching assistant(s) to support NCS students’ learning of Chinese; arranging intensive Chinese learning and teaching mode(s), e.g. pull-out learning if necessary, split-class/group learning, etc.; developing school-based Chinese Language curriculum and/or adapting learning and teaching materials; organising activities to create an inclusive learning environment in the school; and hiring additional manpower and/or translation/interpretation services to facilitate the communication with parents of NCS students. NCS Students can higher their Chinese language level by studying in an immersion model together with participating in the after-school learning support programmes.

home_school_co_operationThe Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school was established in 2004. Every year, the PTA organizes different activities, such as Parents’ meeting, family tours, and different interest classes, to promote home-school cooperation. The PTA annually publishes 2 newsletters to facilitate home-school communications. Besides, the School would invite parents to participate in the Sports Day and other school activities. To build a closer tie with parents and a better environment for students’ growth, the School would get in touch with parents via phone calls or face-to-face meetings.

We have participated in EDB-organized activities to exchange and share our teaching experience with other teachers in both local and Mainland Chinese schools.
