curriculum_planning"Our curriculum is designed by the Education Bureau's ''Curriculum Guide for Kindergarten Education'' (2017), focusing on six learning areas: Language, Early Childhood Mathematics, Nature and Living, Physical Fitness and Health, Arts and Creativity, and Self and Society. The curriculum uses a spiral teaching approach to blend knowledge, skills, and attitudes. This method allows children to learn progressively, moving from simple concepts to more complex ones. We will follow the “Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide” (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation."
learning_or_teaching_approach_and_activities"We utilize a ''project-based learning'' approach, incorporating parent-child data collection, group discussions, outdoor visits, and artistic creation. This group and game-based teaching method enhances children's participation in the classroom. The classroom features various learning areas that provide an interactive learning environment, allowing children to explore and learn independently during their free time. This diverse learning setting stimulates and enhances children's interests and abilities. Additionally, the school employs foreign English and Mandarin teachers to create a comprehensive foreign language learning environment."
assessment_of_children_learning_experiences"We distribute observation records each month to assess children's performance across the six learning areas. Throughout the year, we conduct ongoing observations in three stages and maintain a learning portfolio to document each child's development. This portfolio includes monthly assessment forms, observations from the six learning areas, parental evaluations, children's self-assessments, and details of project-based learning activities. We hold two parent-teacher meetings annually to give parents insights into their children's development in various areas. These discussions allow us to collaboratively explore ways to enhance children's learning and aim for improved educational outcomes."
support_to_students"We maintain a 1:10 teacher-student ratio and offer a newcomer class for smooth transitions. Activities for Primary One adaptation include visits and simulations. The Heep Hong Society provides a professional team to support children with learning needs, and our social worker provides parenting counselling. Foreign English and Mandarin teachers are also on hand to teach foreign languages."
parent_teacher_associationNo
other_activities_or_communication_with_parents"We regularly organize parent activities, including talks, parent-teacher discussions, Parent Days, family trips, celebrations, and volunteer opportunities. Our ''Story Parents'' program engages parents in storytelling art activities. We also offer parents observations to strengthen home-school communication. We provide educational resources online, borrow parenting education books and invite experts for parenting courses. A weekly parent-child reading program fosters reading habits and strengthens family bonds."
