curriculum_planning"The school's curriculum is ‘child-centred’ and is committed to providing quality pre-primary education services to enable children to develop in a balanced manner in the six learning areas of Physical Fitness and Health, Language, Mathematics for Young Children, Nature and Life, Individuals and Groups, and Arts and Creativity. The school has also developed life-oriented learning themes that are close to children's daily experiences, cognition and interests, providing them with integrated and holistic learning experiences. We are the first school in Hong Kong to adopt the ‘Chuck Tudor-Supportive Education Model’ for teaching and learning, with the aims of ‘Knowing filial piety and propriety, cherishing culture, emphasising the three languages, and developing potentials’. The Chuck Tuk Shing Education Model curriculum uses Cantonese Opera as a tool and the stage as a classroom, integrating drama, language, music, physical fitness, dance and art, so that children can learn the language through ‘singing’, ‘acting’, ‘reciting’ and ‘playing’ happily. In addition, as an international school with students from different nationalities, Cantonese Opera provides them with more opportunities to get in touch with and learn to speak Cantonese; Cantonese Opera allows children to learn expression, perseverance, fearlessness of hard work and appreciation of Chinese culture and art from a young age; and children develop self-confidence and self-appreciation through performing on the stage boards. We will follow the “Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide” (2017) to plan curriculum. Children of nursery classes will not be asked to write, and there will not be mechanical copying exercises and drills on calculation."
